At Christ the King Parish, we believe that preparing for the Sacraments is a sacred journey of faith for both children and families. Our Sacramental Preparations provide spiritual formation, catechesis, and community support to help participants grow in their relationship with Christ and His Church.
We partner with parents—the first and primary educators of their children in the faith—to ensure that every candidate is ready to receive each sacrament with reverence, understanding, and joy.
✞First Holy Communion Preparation
First Holy Communion is a beautiful and sacred milestone in a child’s life of faith. Through the Eucharist, we receive Jesus Christ—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—who strengthens us to live as His disciples.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Typically for children in 2nd grade or older.
- Must have completed two years of Religious Education prior to beginning Sacramental Prep.
- Regular Mass attendance and family participation in parish life are expected.
- Parents/guardians attend all Sacramental Parent Meetings and participate in special Family Faith Events during the preparation period.
🕊Confirmation Preparation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a powerful moment in a young person’s faith journey — the completion of Baptismal grace and a personal “yes” to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Through Confirmation, our youth are strengthened to live as active, committed disciples of Christ and witnesses to His love in the world.
At Christ the King Parish, Confirmation preparation is a two-year prep that begins in 7th grade. This gradual and meaningful process allows students the time to grow in faith, deepen their understanding of the Church, and develop a closer relationship with God.
Requirements & Expectations
- Regular attendance at Religious Education classes and weekend Mass.
- Parents/guardians attend all Sacramental Parent Meetings
- Participation in parish service projects and community outreach.
- Completion of a retreat experience prior to Confirmation.
- Ongoing communication between families, sponsors, and catechists to support each candidate’s growth in faith.
7th Grade
Students focus on building a strong foundation in their Catholic faith—exploring Scripture, the Sacraments, and what it means to live as a follower of Jesus. They are encouraged to participate actively in parish life and service opportunities.
