A Full-Circle Moment

Kate Braunstein returning to Christ the King as Coordinator of Evangelization.

It’s a great honor to introduce myself, my name is Kate Braunstein, and I’m the new Coordinator of Evangelization here at Christ the King! But this isn’t my first time walking these halls. In just a few weeks, it will be twenty years since I first stepped into Christ the King School. I spent two years as a student, and I’m so excited to be back in a new role.

I spent the first seven months of my life in a Russian orphanage, after a brave sixteen year old chose life. My adoption is my life’s greatest gift, because it then brought me to Cherry Hill, where I’m blessed to have grown up.

At eleven years old, following a traumatic experience, I took ownership of my faith. By twelve, I was immersed in the lives of the saints, praying the Rosary, and reading the Catechism. It sounds cliche, but Jesus was the only one who made me feel truly wanted. That relationship carried me through high school and college.

I attended Montclair State University, where I was active in the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry. We traveled to national conferences and served on mission trips both locally and abroad. But more than anything, those years taught me what it means to be a young Catholic today—and how to give a confident “YES!” to the Lord in our everyday lives.

I studied Communication and Media Arts, was involved in college radio, and interned at Fox News before landing a job as a producer at ABC News in Manhattan. It was an exciting chapter, but I slowly drifted from the strong Catholic community I had up north, something I didn’t even realize until later.

During COVID, I moved back to South Jersey and became an anchor at KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia, where you can still occasionally hear me on air. I also attend St. Andrew the Apostle in Voorhees/Gibbsboro, where I teach Religious Education.

Returning to Christ the King in this new role feels like a full-circle moment. I’m so excited to be here and can’t wait to learn how each of you has said “YES!” to the Lord. God bless!
