Amy and Ian Scott in Hawaii celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.
As a lifelong Christ the King parishioner, I have been blessed to attend many outstanding programs and Masses. Always drawn to Scripture and eager to learn more, I even joined a few non-Catholic Bible studies. But as I became more familiar with the Bible’s passages, I realized I was still searching for something deeper. One morning after Mass, I noticed an announcement in the bulletin for a new women’s Bible study. I leaped—and joined!
When I began Walking with Purpose (WWP) nine years ago, I knew the stories of the Bible mostly through the readings at Mass. But as I studied both the Old and New Testament in light of our Catholic faith—and alongside women of all ages—I discovered a richness and depth I hadn’t known before.
The WWP tagline says it best: “So much more than a Bible Study.” It truly is. This ministry is about sharing, friendship, community, laughter, and support. Each woman brings her wisdom and perspective, and together we grow in faith. One of my favorite moments comes at the end of each meeting, when prayer intentions are shared. To know that sisters in Christ are carrying my prayers with them throughout the week is both humbling and uplifting.
Over the past nine years, I’ve met incredible women who have helped me grow, not only as a Catholic but also as a disciple seeking Christ more fully in daily life. I now make time for God each day, whether through prayer, Catholic podcasts, or the daily Mass readings.
I truly cherish my time with Walking with Purpose, and I hope the Holy Spirit nudges you to join us. Our new semester begins soon: the evening session starts Thursday, September 25 at 7:00 PM, and the morning session begins Friday, September 26 at 9:00 AM. We meet in Morgan Hall, each session offers light hospitality, fellowship, prayer, and small group discussion following a video teaching. For more information, contact the office. Remember, we always have a seat waiting for you!
Amy Scott is entering her 5th year as co-coordinator of WWP. She was a CTK religious education teacher and has participated in our faith sharing groups.
