A Community of Young Believers

Our third annual Gingerbread House Competition was a festive and exciting event after the December Teen Mass. Thirty high schoolers created their masterpieces with the base of a packaged house, lots of icing, and tins overflowing with various supplies. Each house, when completed, had its unique charm: a cozy log cabin with a pretzel gate, gummy bears on candy cane skis outside of a beach house with gummy bears on candy can skis in the yard, the gingerbread version of Christ the King Church enhanced with pretzel crosses, marshmallow snowmen hanging out in a yard, graham crackers engineered perfectly to create a fort above a house, a cozy cottage with Santa sitting on a beautifully designed rooftop, and our winning house, a snowy cottage! Through Facebook and Instagram, we invited our parishioners to vote for their favorite house and received 75 votes!

While the Gingerbread House Competition is a fun and exciting event, our youth and young adult leaders dedicate themselves to a more significant goal: fostering a community of believers who trust one another. Just as Jesus spent time with people and learned their stories, we aim to create a space where teens, facing a world that is often chaotic, confusing, and filled with immense pressure, can feel seen, heard, and understood.

I am eagerly looking forward to the opportunities in 2025. I am excited to continue connecting with local high school students, engaging with our young adult leaders, and developing this ministry and its members to our full potential.
