February 11
Next Sunday is the feast of Saint Bernadette at Lourdes. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette eighteen times in a cave near Lourdes in southern France. At the time, Saint Bernadette was only fourteen years old. Mary told Saint Bernadette that her Son wished to establish a devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Christ the King Rosary Ministry would like to invite all parish members attending the 9 AM Sunday Mass on February 11 to arrive 20 minutes early and join in Praying the Rosary.
Praying the Rosary is a time of reflection and peacefulness. All parishioners, including families are invited to this prayerful time before Mass. It is an excellent way for children to learn basic prayers and to gain an understanding of the Rosary as a prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Time and again Mary has shown to be a great intercessor to her Son.
There are 20 mysteries in the complete Rosary. There are five Joyful mysteries, five Luminous mysteries, five Sorrowful mysteries, and five Glorious mysteries. Each of the mysteries covers a significant event in the earthly life of Mary and her Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The time spent reflecting on these mysteries as we pray each decade of the rosary, is peaceful, calming, and uplifting.
We hope that you will join us next Sunday before the 9 AM Mass (8:40 AM) to begin praying the Rosary. Rosary beads will be made available for anyone in need of one. If you need a Rosary or any member of your family, one will be provided for you handmade by the Rosary makers.
